Art and Spencer did …
Art loved to sing. He really enjoyed being in the church choir … but when he’d stand up and open his book all the paper bookmarks often fell out. Post yet another incident … he suddenly remembered a seminar one of his colleagues, Spencer, had given back at work.
Spencer was a chemist who stuck big things together for a living … things like airplane parts. Five years earlier he developed an adhesive nobody knew what to do with it. But everywhere Spencer went he told people about it.
Inspired … Art went back to work and presented his idea for a reusable, reliable bookmark. The team even whipped up an initial batch using the scrap yellow paper they found outside the lab. While management was uncertain, the staff could not get enough of these special bookmarks. Even better, consumers in a test city who were given free samples wanted to buy them.
Today, Art and Spencer’s reusable bookmarks are sold worldwide in all types of shapes and colours … and you probably use them yourself … Post It Notes.
